DIA 4: Williams (Arizona)
El pròxim hotel és a Williams (Arizona), a peu de la Ruta 66. El trajecte no és excessivament llarg però el paisatge és desèrtic, la calor important i les distàncies entre pobles enormes. Parem a Peach Springs, situat també al mig de la Route 66, a estirar les cames i enviar postals. Sempre hi ha una oficina de correus quan la necessites i és un souvenir que surt barat. Ens sorprèn trobar un grup de HD, encara no havíem trobat motos per el camí i ens començava a semblar estrany. Abans de dinar ja hem arribat al nostre destí, Williams, i comença a ploure. Ja que no hem de moure’ns del poble i que el visitarem a peu, decidim fer un bon dinar, amb calma, a l’”Steak House” del poble, decorat de Halloween (ens miren raro perquè ja són quasi les 3 però ens donen dinar...). A la tarda, tot i la pluja, visitem el poble. Són bàsicament dos carrers (els 2 sentits de la Ruta 66), un més residencial i l’altre amb moltes botigues de tots els records imaginables que fan referència a la ruta 66: cartells, plaques, tasses, caramels, roba, bolis, ... L’hotel és senzill, el típic que surt a les pelis americanes: una habitació amb bany al darrere, on pots aparcar el vehicle just a la porta, un lloc on s’amaguen fugitius o testimonis protegits ...
Williams és un poble que viuen del turisme i una de les atraccions és un tren a vapor que porta als turistes fins a Grand Canyon, tot i que només funciona a l'estiu. També aprofitem per comprar i enviar unes postals ... arribaran a casa?
